Marco Alessi is a film director and writer based in London.
Most recently, Marco wrote and directed POMPEII in collaboration with Harry Lighton and Matthew Jacobs Morgan. It was commissioned by Film4, premiered at the London Film Festival 2019, and has been long-listed for a BIFA, and nominated for the London Critics’ Circle Best Short Film Award.
In 2019 he directed TONI_WITH_AN_I, co-written with Mary Antony. It was produced by the BFI and BBC for broadcast on BBC 4, and competed at the 70th Berlinale in February 2020.
His first short, FOUR QUARTETS, premiered at the London Film Festival in 2018 before playing at the 2019 Berlinale where it received the Youth Jury Generation 14plus Special Mention. It has been distributed on DVD/BluRay and VOD by Peccadillo Pictures.
Marco is currently in pre-production with his next short, THE BOWER, inspired by Derek Jarman’s canonisation in 1991. He is also developing his first feature, CAMPOMARINO.
